Student loan debt is a major financial burden for millions of Americans. In fact, the total outstanding student loan debt in the United States is now over $1.7 trillion. This debt can have a significant impact on borrowers' financial lives, making it difficult to save for a home, start a business, or even pay for basic necessities.
There has been growing momentum in recent years for student loan forgiveness. In 2021, President Biden signed an executive order that extended the pause on student loan payments through May 1, 2023. He also created a new task force to develop a plan for broad-based student loan forgiveness.
As of today, the loan forgiveness plan (student debt relief plan) is not accepting applications because the Supreme Court decision is not out yet.
